THANKSGIVING

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving. We hosted dinner at our house this year. Both of our families came. It was so nice to have everyone together.

A tradition in my family is to have a Thanksgiving tree. I had everyone write what they are thankful for on a leaf and hang it on a branch. It was my centerpiece for the food table.

I got to use my great-grandmother's china which made our thanksgiving dinner extra special. I used pinecone ornaments for my napkin holders.

My pumpkin bouquet I made for under $15! I went to Hobby Lobby the day after Halloween when all of their fall decor was 80% off. I bought a fake pumpkin and fake flowers and floral foam. I cut the top of the pumpkin off. Inserted the foam. Then put the flowers in.

We have so much to be thankful for. We are the most thankful for our beautiful miracle baby who was born earlier this year.

Now that Thanksgiving is done, Christmas decor is coming soon!

Nichole's Nursery

My favorite room in the house is my daughter's room. We had a hard time getting pregnant so decorating her nursery was extra special. I wanted her nursery to be absolutely perfect. Only the best for my little girl!

The nursery has a girly woodland animal theme. I was inspired by the fawn clock I purchased from Etsy. We painted the room pink, of course! I kept it simple with the bedding, choosing plain white sheets and my grandmother made the sweet crib bumper.

What little girl's room is complete without a chandelier and a pompom canopy?! It's my personal opinion that every girl should have a chandelier in her room. We all deserve to feel like a Princess. I made her canopy myself with a hot glue gun, pompom trim, cheap white curtains, and an embroidery hoop.

My favorite items in the nursery are her fawn clock, her canopy, and the little butterflies on the walls. I think the butterflies add such a sweet whimsical touch.

Halloween

This year for Halloween, I was a deer, baby girl was a bunny, and my husband was a hunter. Sadly my husband had to work the night shift so he wasn't able to go trick-or-treating with us.

I made our bunny/deer head pieces. I purchased the headbands from Hobby Lobby (wedding section), and hot glued fake flowers to it. I made the bunny ears out of felt and the deer antlers out of pipe cleaners and floral tape (tutorial here).

For my fawn makeup I used:
  • Benefit Hoola Bronzer on my cheekbones, forehead, and on the sides of my nose.
  • Black ELF gel eyeliner for the nose
  • Maybelline Cover Stick in White for the spots and highlight on top of nose
  • MAC Haute & Naughty Mascara

Kitchen Renovation on a Budget

Our kitchen was the ugliest room in the house and the most work to renovate. It had fiesta orange walls and this ugly gray tile that we couldn't wait to rip up. Since the house was a foreclosure, there was some paint on the floor and graffiti on the walls left by the previous owners (thanks guys!).

I love all of the beautiful kitchens I see on Pinterest with marble countertops and huge islands but we're ballin' on a budget, so we went with laminate countertops and painted the existing cabinets. We added crown molding to the top of the cabinets and oil rubbed bronze hardware to make the cabinets look high-end. It turned out better than we expected! We love our kitchen!

  • Countertops - Lowes
  • Bamboo Floors - Lumber Liquidators
  • Flowers - Michaels
  • Verse of the Week Board - Etsy

  • Table - Ikea
  • Trash Can - Ikea
  • Lights & Fan - Lowes
  • Light Switch Covers - Walmart
  • Knobs - Walmart

I'd like to eventually add some artwork to the wall where the table is (Aimee Weaver Designs has something I have my eye on), and I'm still looking for a kitchen rug. I have the hardest time with rugs! Mostly because all of the ones that I want are too expensive. LOL! I will let you know when I find the one!

Entryway

Here is my entryway. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out. We added the french doors. They lead to the playroom. I like the look they give the entryway and they are great for hiding toys in the playroom. I don't want the first thing people to see when they walk in my home to be a messy playroom.

I got my piano from craigslist for FREE! It's over 100 years old and sounds great! I plan on painting it at some point. I want to make sure it doesn't devalue the piano first.

I am in love with our Lucas Home sign. I think it's the perfect piece of art for people to be greeted by when they enter our home. I bought it from Aimee Weaver Designs. I love her work and definitely plan on buying more.

Dining Room Transformation

My dining room was inspired by a picture I saw on Pinterest (here). The rest of my house was designed by my own imagination. However for my dining room, I was so in love with the room I saw on Pinterest, I had to have it.

The dining room before I decorated it was SO UGLY! It had burgundy walls and the most horrendous chandelier. This room was in need of a makeover very badly! Painting it was almost healing. LOL!

  • Dining table, chairs, floating buffet, and curtains are from IKEA
  • Bubble Light is from CB2
  • Mirror is from Pottery Barn
  • Bamboo Chairs are from Ballard Design

I am absolutely obsessed with my Ballard Design bamboo chairs. They were actually my mom's but she gave them to me because I love them so much. I haven't done much with them yet but I plan on reupholstering the cushions and adding some cute throw pillows.

A Bed Fit For A King & Queen

We wanted our bedroom to be our little oasis, the place where we go to reconnect and relax at the end of the day. I wanted it to feel luxurious and have some bling but not be girly.

  • We made the canopy out of PVC pipe (you can find the tutorial here
  • Chandelier is from Lowes
  • Bedding is from Pottery Barn
  • Curtains, Table Lamps, and Chairs are from Target
  • Side Tables are from Pier1
  • Bedroom Set is from Ashley Furniture
  • Paint color is Benjamin Moore Barren Plain

I'm still not finished with our room. I need to add some more decorative items to our side tables and set up our little sitting area. I will post an update when it's done.
